Day 1. WELCOME TO UZBEKISTAN

Flight to Uzbekistan and arrival in Tashkent.

On arrival in Tashkent, our guide/driver meets you at the main waiting area of the airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. After some rest, you will start the guided tour of the Silk Road heritage and modern highlights of Tashkent:

  • The immense Chorsu Bazaar;
  • The Kukeldash madrasa;
  • Khastimam complex and the oldest Qur’an (the Coran) publicly available in the world;
  • Place of Independence and Amir Temur Square;
  • The Central Asian Center of Plov.

Overnight in Tashkent.


Day 2. Tashkent to SAMARKAND

Transfer from Tashkent to Samarkand (290 km). Enjoy your drive through the beautiful Zerafshan mountains, and the arid lands of Mirzachol which is called the Steppes of Hunger.

Arrival in Samarkand and visits:

  • The mausoleum of Tamerlane, richly decorated with gold, jade, marble, mosaics, and ceramics;
  • The Taj Mahal of Samarkand – Bibi Khanum mosque and the bazaar Siab;
  • Samarkand Silk Paper workshop in a beautiful village;
  • The museum and the Observatory of Ulugh Beg;
  • The most sacred place of Samarkand – the necropolis Shakhi Zinda and its 20+ mausoleums.

In the evening, we will invite you to a Samarkand by Night tour to see the Place of Registan with absolutely different colors.

Overnight in Samarkand.


Day 3. SAMARKAND – SENTAB (270km)

After breakfast, visit the Place of Registan with its 3 madrasas.

Depart to Sentab (4-5 hours).

Arrival in the village by the end of the day. Like all houses in the village, your guesthouse also has a big, beautiful garden, with a river passing next to it.

Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse.


Day 4. SENTAB Hiking to the Waterfall (Nuratau mountains)

After breakfast, you will start your first hiking trip in the Nuratau mountains. During the hiking trip, you will see the lifestyle of the locals and meet many curious villagers.

The highlights of the hiking:

  • Korgan castle (the abandoned ancient settlement) with an impressive panoramic view over the Nurata mountains;
  • The old mosque of the village;
  • Numerous ancient petroglyphs & Arabic scripts on the rocks;
  • A beautiful waterfall with its natural swimming pool

Hiking duration: 6-7 hours

Hiking distance: 15 km total

Hiking difficulty: easy

Dinner and overnight in the Guesthouse.


Day 5. SENTAB Hiking to the Fazilman Lake (Nurata mountains)

After breakfast, you will start a bigger hike which offers you hypnotizing views and a memorable experience.

Gorgeous mountains, streams, and endless hills are all concentrated in this area. The Fazilman lake, also called Sentobkol (Sentab lake) is located 1650 meters above sea level. A lake is a place where lots of horses and birds come every day for drinking water.

Lunch picnic in a beautiful location will be as well a great experience.

The duration of the hiking: 7-8 hours

The distance of the hiking: is 19 km

Hiking difficulty: moderate

Dinner and overnight in the Guesthouse.


Day 6. HOMESTAY IN A VILLAGE – YURT CAMP  (140km)

Breakfast at the guesthouse and transfer to the biggest lake in the country which is located in the heart of the desert. Enjoy some free time swimming, and observing the birdlife of lake Aydarkul. There is a possibility to have a lunch picnic with a beautiful view of the lake.

By the end of the day, you will arrive at the desert yurt camp (5-7 km from the lake). Today you will discover the unique and amazing culture of nomads: ride a camel, experience a nomadic lifestyle, nomadic meals, nomadic music around a campfire, and overnight in yurts.

Day 7. YURT CAMP TO BUKHARA through Nurata (260km)

Breakfast and drive to Bukhara.

The highlights of the drive to Bukhara: visiting the water reservoir of the Silk Road caravans – Sardoba, 2000-year-old rock carvings near Nurata, the ruins of a citadel of Alexander the Great, and the Chashma complex in Nurata.

Arrival in Bukhara by the end of the day and free time for rest.

Overnight in Bukhara.


Day 8. THE SAINT BUKHARA (visits on foot)

Bukhara used to be the biggest Central Asian marketplace for the Silk Road traders and you will really feel it when you see an uncountable number of small bazaars and caravanserais all around the old city. Today you will be walking around Bukhara to visit its most wonderful monuments. The activities of the day:

  • Mausoleum of Samanids (9th century);
  • Bolo Khauz – the mosque with 40 pillars and the citadel Ark;
  • The complex Kalon with the biggest mosque, the biggest madrasa, and the highest minaret in the city;
  • Chor Minor;
  • The monuments of the Lyabi Khauz complex.

Tip: you should consider taking some coffee (maybe a beer!) at a terrace restaurant in front of the Kalon complex. That’s where you will see one of the highlights of your tour in Bukhara – the panoramic view of the complex.

Day 9. BUKHARA TO KHIVA (450km, 6-7hrs)

After breakfast, you will take a long and enjoyable drive towards Bukhara through the desert – Kyzylkum.

Option: Just before arriving in Khiva, you will stop in a small village where you can taste fresh Uzbek bread and see the preparation of Uzbek bread in a traditional clay oven - tandoor.

The highlights of the day: visit a 3000-year-old Guldursun Fortress, encounter some of the rare camels in the desert, enjoying the beautiful view of the Amu Darya River.

*You can have lunch in a desert teahouse on the road where we will recommend you to enjoy delicious shashlik – kebabs.

You will arrive in Bukhara by the end of the day. Free time.

In the evenings the citadel gets empty and it becomes a true city of 1001 nights.

Overnight in Khiva.


Day 10. KHIVA, a jewel of the Silk Road

Breakfast in the hotel. Today you will visit one of the most impressive places in all of Central Asia – the Ichan Kala citadel. With some 250+ monuments, this citadel is a museum under the open sky. The visits of the day:

  • The west gate – Ata Darwaza;
  • The blue minaret – Kalta Minor and its madrasa;
  • The Ark citadel with its summer mosque, reception hall, and Observation tower (optional);
  • The Tosh Khovli Palace with the Harem;
  • The mausoleum of Pahlawan Mahmud with the biggest dome in the citadel;
  • The madrasa Muhammad Rahimkhan;
  • The woodcarving workshop which is the main craft of Khiva;
  • The old slave market in the East Gate;
  • The Juma mosque – a 1000-year-old mosque with unique architecture and 213 wooden columns.

20:00 transfer to the airport of Urgench (35km) to take the flight to Tashkent (22:55). Arrival in Tashkent (00:15) and transfer to your hotel.

Day 11: THANK YOU AND GOODBYE

Departure from Tashkent

Early breakfast. Transfer to the International Airport of Tashkent.
